Troopers Arrested Omaha Man After Pursuit, Search
Nebraska State Troopers, with assistance from the Omaha Police Department, have arrested one person after he led troopers on a pursuit and entered someone else’s house in an attempt to hide.
At approximately 11:05 p.m. Thursday, a trooper performed a traffic stop on a Cadillac STS sedan for driving with no license plate on Interstate 80 near 42nd Street. The vehicle pulled over to the shoulder, but accelerated and fled eastbound as the trooper approached the vehicle. The trooper initiated a pursuit.
As the vehicle fled into Iowa, OPD’s Able-1 took over the pursuit from the air and the trooper terminated the pursuit on the ground. OPD pilots notified troopers and OPD officers that the vehicle was reentering Nebraska on I-80 and was observed exiting onto northbound 13th Street. Pilots directed ground personnel to the area of 2nd and Center Streets where the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.
Troopers and officers determined that the suspect had entered one of the homes in the area without the knowledge of the residents. The residents did not know who the suspect was and granted permission to search the home. The suspect was then located hiding in the basement of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect, Albert Fuller, 46, of Omaha, was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving – 2nd offense, obstructing a peace officer, burglary, driving on a suspended license, and an outstanding warrant. He was lodged in Douglas County Jail.
