The Nebraska State Patrol and Omaha Police Department are attempting to locate a suspect who fired shots at law enforcement and took a woman hostage after troopers attempted to serve an arrest warrant Thursday night in Omaha.

The subject is identified as Jason Davenport, 42, of Council Bluffs. Davenport is approximately 6’3” tall and weighs between 170 and 200 pounds.

The incident began at approximately 8:15 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 3600 block of S 30th Street in Omaha. Davenport was believed to have fled from law enforcement last week and is the subject of an active arrest warrant. While troopers attempted to make contact, Davenport exited the residence firing a handgun. Multiple troopers and an Omaha Police Department officer returned fire.

Davenport was able to take a female subject hostage and flee the scene in a gray Ford Fusion. Troopers and officers pursued, but they lost visual as the vehicle drove through Upland Park.

Officers from multiple agencies searched the area with assistance from NSP and OPD helicopters, but were unable to locate Davenport, the vehicle, or his hostage. If anyone sees Davenport, call 911 immediately.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional details will be released when possible. No officers or troopers were injured during the incident.
