State Patrol Arrests Three Inmates for Attempted Murder
Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested three inmates for their roles in an assault on several Nebraska Department of Correctional Services personnel in 2023.
Tuesday, investigators arrested Eric Ramirez, 33, John Meyers, 39, and Jonathan Gonzalez Salas, 23. All three are currently inmates at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, when the inmates attacked staff members at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln. The inmates used manufactured weapons in the attack and severely injured five staff members. The charges are:
Eric Ramirez – Attempted 1st degree murder, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, 1st degree assault on an officer, 2nd degree assault on an officer, and terroristic threats.
John Meyers – Attempted 1st degree murder, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, attempted 2nd degree assault on an officer, terroristic threats.
Jonathan Gonzalez Salas – Attempted 1st degree murder, 3rd degree assault on an officer, terroristic threats.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services assisted in this investigation.
