Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a 16-year-old girl after a pursuit and crash in west Omaha Friday evening.
At approximately 9:57 p.m., a trooper saw a Mazda CX9 traveling at over 100 miles per hour, without headlights, on Q street, near 156th Street in Omaha, which is a 45 miles per hour zone. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and fled. The trooper initiated a pursuit.
The vehicle turned into a neighborhood and eventually returned to Q Street and continued fleeing westbound. After the vehicle passed 168th Street it came upon two vehicles traveling in the same direction, attempted to drive between the two vehicles, and struck the rear of a Toyota 4Runner. The crash caused the Toyota to roll.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Mazda were cleared by medical staff at the scene. The passenger reported that the driver refused to let her exit the vehicle while fleeing. While being placed into custody, the driver also forcibly kicked a trooper.
The driver of the Mazda, a 16-year-old girl, was arrested for DUI .15+, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, assault on an officer, false imprisonment, minor in possession of alcohol, open alcohol container, and second-degree assault. She was placed in the Douglas County Youth Center. The entire pursuit lasted less than two minutes.
The Omaha Police Department is conducting the crash investigation.
