Wellness
The Nebraska State Patrol is dedicated to the mental wellness of our entire state, from troopers who patrol Nebraska's roadways to investigators working a crime scene to our support personnel who serve the public in numerous ways. There are several options available to our entire team to support their wellness.
NSP Chaplain Corps
The Nebraska State Patrol maintains a chaplaincy program to serve agency employees and their families. All NSP Chaplains are licensed ministers or ordained clergy serving within a local faith community in their assigned troop area. They also have a strong desire and passion to serve those who work to keep their communities and state safe. Our Chaplains provide support, encouragement and assistance in confronting the spiritual, emotional burdens that are often a result of working in law enforcement and public safety.
NSP Chaplains often assist with death notifications, individual counseling, officiate funerals for current and retired employees and their family, provide invocations and benedictions at graduation ceremonies, assist with Police Week events and other ceremonies, and provide spiritual and emotional support to those exposed to critical incidents and traumatic events.

Peer Support
Law Enforcement agency personnel frequently face high stress situations, traumatic events and unique workplace challenges that can significantly impact their mental health and overall wellbeing. Peer support teams are designed to help others prepare for and manage these challenges when they occur. The Nebraska State Patrol’s Peer Support program began in 2019. The program is designed to provide emotional and practical support to co-workers who experience a personal or professional challenge.
The Peer Support Team consists of agency employees who are selected from across the state and include both troopers and professional staff. These team members are trained to help others discuss stressors, access help and coping mechanisms without fear of judgment, and refer them to further help and resources if needed.
Wellness App
The Nebraska State Patrol has utilized Lexipol’s Cordico Wellness App since the beginning of 2023. This mobile app is a confidential resource, designed for the needs of the agency, and features resources that are First-Responder specific, created by clinicians and experts in the field of First-Responder wellness. The app is available for download to all NSP employees, their immediate family members and retirees.
Family members or troopers wishing to download the app should contact NSP Wellness Director, Dr. Deb Hoffman.
