Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested 15 impaired drivers over Labor Day weekend. The effort was part of a campaign to close out the summer travel season.
“Every DUI arrest is a potential life saver,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Our troopers have been on patrol all summer working to keep Nebraska safe. As the summer comes to an end, we know that changing weather and holiday travel are right around the corner. No matter the time of year, everyone should make the commitment to always drive sober.”
In addition to the 15 arrests for driving under the influence, troopers also issued citations for speeding (365), open alcohol container (10), minor in possession of alcohol (5), driving under suspension (23), no seat belt (5), and improper child restraint (6). Troopers also performed 122 motorist assists during the weekend.
Throughout the summer months, troopers made 348 DUI arrests between Memorial Day and Labor Day. That compares for 408 DUI arrests during the same period in 2025.
This effort was made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
