Troopers Encourage Safe Driving for Annual Oregon Trial Days

Scottsbluff, NEB.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol are on patrol to keep roadways safe as crowds gather for the annual Oregon Trail Days in Gering.

“Oregon Trail Days brings visitors from across the area to Scotts Bluff County to enjoy the history and traditions of our communities,” said Captain Art Frerichs, Commander of Troop E, based in Scottsbluff. “As the celebration continues, we hope all visitors stay safe and have sober drivers lined up if their festivities involve alcohol.”

The 105th annual Oregon Trails Days began last night and runs throughout this weekend, with events throughout the day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Troopers will perform high visibility patrols in the surrounding areas, as well as participate in some of the community events.

This effort is made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office. This is one of several traffic safety campaigns NSP is holding throughout the state in the summer months.
