The Nebraska State Patrol is releasing enforcement stats after a busy Nebraska State Fair. Troopers were on patrol for the entire duration of the Fair from Friday, August 28, through Monday, September 7.
“The State Fair was an excellent event again this year,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh. “We’d like to congratulate the State Fair team, exhibitors, and patrons for an incredible fair this year. Keeping the fair safe was a huge team effort and all involved did a wonderful job making the event memorable and enjoyable for all visitors.”
Over the Labor Day Weekend, investigators conducted liquor enforcement duties at the Fair, with an emphasis on identifying minors in possession of alcohol. During the effort, investigators issued eleven citations. The citations included minor in possession of alcohol (6), procuring alcohol for a minor (3), and possession false ID (2). Prior to the start of the Fair, NSP investigators also provided training to vendors on Nebraska liquor laws.
During the Fair, troopers also patrolled roadways around Grand Island and Hall County. Throughout the State Fair time frame, troopers patrolling in Hall County arrested six people for driving under the influence. Troopers in Hall County also cited drivers for speeding (105), open alcohol container (3), minor in possession (12), no seat belt (1), and driving under suspension (3). Troopers also performed 29 motorist assists.
These efforts were made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
