Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol, working with numerous partner police agencies, have arrested a person being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation in Fargo, North Dakota. The arrest occurred after a pursuit in eastern Nebraska this morning.
Just before 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, NSP was notified that the Milford Police Department was in pursuit of a vehicle believed to be connected to an active investigation of the Fargo Police Department. The pursuit turned onto Interstate 80, traveling eastbound toward the Lincoln area. A trooper located and joined the pursuit near mile marker 388.
The NSP AirWing launched and began tracking the pursuit from the air as it continued eastbound on I-80. Troopers took over the primary position in the pursuit as the suspect vehicle, a Toyota Camry, continued fleeing with speeds over 100 miles per hour. Lancaster County deputies and additional troopers joined the pursuit as the suspect fled through the Lincoln area. Near Waverly, the suspect drove onto the shoulder toward a trooper who was attempting to deploy stop sticks.
After troopers successfully deployed stop sticks a short time later, the vehicle exited I-80 at the Ashland interchange, at mile marker 426, and came to a stop. The driver then refused troopers’ commands to exit the vehicle for several minutes. Just after 9:10 a.m., the suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver, Brandon George, 42, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was arrested and lodged in Lancaster County Jail. Nebraska State Patrol investigators are working with the Fargo Police Department on the ongoing investigation. Local charges include willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, attempt of a Class 1 felony, and terroristic threats.
The Nebraska State Patrol was assisted by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Seward County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln Police Department, Milford Police Department, and Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
