Important, please note:

• You must update your information with the DMV first, then allow up to 3 days for the changes to post before requesting a CHP renewal, data change, or lost/stolen replacement.
• If you are updating information and also need to renew, please submit a renewal request only.
  • Renew your CHP ($50 renewal fee plus $4.50 online renewal charge)
  • Update your name or address on your CHP (no charge)
  • Request a replacement for your lost or stolen CHP (no charge)

NOTE: Due to record numbers of concealed handgun permit renewals, you may experience longer than usual wait times to receive your renewal permit.

The Nebraska State Patrol is currently working on renewal applications in order of earliest expiration date to ensure citizens do not have an expired permit.

Please be assured your renewal permit will be issued before the expiration date of your current permit. If you have not received your renewal permit two weeks before the expiration date, please feel free to contact the Nebraska State Patrol at (402) 479-4971 to check on the status.  Please do not call to check on the status of your renewal permit if your expiration date is more than two weeks from expiring.
