Troopers around the state will be connecting with Nebraskans in communities big and small to spread the message of safe driving for the upcoming Husker football season, with the 2nd edition of the Husker game ball relay.
“Last year, our first Husker game ball relay was a huge hit across Nebraska,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh. “Our troopers brought to game ball to over a dozen communities, visiting schools, practices, high school football games, and teaming up with our local public safety partners. This year we’re glad to do another relay for even more Nebraskans to get in on the fun and prep for a safe Husker football season.”
The game ball relay kicked off Thursday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, with Trooper Brett, the voice of Husker Radio Traffic Reports, starting the ball on its journey across the state.
The ball will be featured at the NSP booth at the Nebraska State Fair on Saturday, before making its way further west and eventually back east before Troopers deliver it to Memorial Stadium for the Huskers’ opener against Ohio on Saturday, September 5.
“While this is a fun event for our troopers and fans across Nebraska, it comes with an important message,” said Colonel Waugh. “Travel safely on your way to Lincoln for Husker games this season. Always drive sober, put your phone down, watch your speed, and buckle up. Let’s make the drive to the game uneventful so we can all enjoy the action on the field this season.”
