NSP Completes Lancaster County Rec Area Summer Enforcement

August 22, 2017 (Lincoln, Neb.)  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Headquarters Troop –
Lincoln, have completed a nearly three-month-long special enforcement focused on recreational areas in
Lancaster County. The effort ran from May 31 - August 17.

NSP worked in conjunction with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Lancaster County
Sheriff’s Office in an effort to reduce the potential for alcohol-related crashes around recreational areas,
including Branched Oak State Recreational Area, Bluestem Recreational Area, Pawnee Lake, Stagecoach
Lake, and Wagon Train Recreational Area.

During the enforcement, Troopers issued citations for Speeding (16), Open Container (11), Driving Under
Suspension (2), No Proof of Insurance (1), No Seat Belt (2), and apprehended one fugitive.

“The summer is always a busy time for our area lakes and recreational areas,” said Captain Lance Rogers,
Commander Troop H – Lincoln. “Working with Nebraska Game and Parks and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s
Office, this high visibility effort was a great reminder for people to drive sober and be responsible.”

The effort was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $4,675 from the Nebraska Department of
Transportation – Highway Safety Office (NDOT-HSO).
