October 18, 2016 (Scottsbluff, Neb.)  — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Troop E-Scottsbluff will once again team up with community partner Allo Communications and area elementary schools to promote safety this Halloween.

“This year we have a two-fold approach,” said Captain Jamey Balthazor, Commander Troop-E Scottsbluff. “We’ll take our safety message to schools prior to Halloween and then we’ll be out in the community on the big night, with the trick-or-treaters.”

Leading up to October 31, troopers, joined by agency mascot Trooper Buck L. Up, will visit four elementary schools in Scottsbluff/Gering and two schools in Alliance encouraging youngsters to be safe on Halloween.

From 3:30-5:30 p.m.(MDT) on Halloween, troopers will participate in the annual trick or treat celebration in downtown Alliance. Then beginning at 6:00 p.m. (MDT) troopers will be at Westmoor and Lincoln Heights elementary schools in Scottsbluff and Geil and Northfield elementary schools in Gering.

For the second year, Allo Communications is again providing glow-in-the-dark items as well as candy for troopers to hand out to trick-or-treaters.

Captain Balthazor said, “We want to thank Allo Communications for its dedication to the safety of our families. We’ll be handing out treats as long as they last.”

The Nebraska State Patrol reminds youngsters to have fun, while keeping safety in mind. Halloween health and safety tips can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website. ###
