Denton Named Troop D Captain


 September 30, 2016 (North Platte, Neb.)  — The Nebraska State Patrol announces the promotion of Lieutenant Martin Denton to the position of Captain in Command of Troop D- North Platte.

A 20- year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, Denton, 46, served his first duty assignment with the Field Services Division in Kimball. In 2004, he was promoted to Sergeant assigned to Holdrege. Denton was assigned to Troop E – Scottsbluff when he promoted to Lieutenant in 2014. A SWAT team member, he has also served the agency as a Firearms and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) instructor.

Captain Denton holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Chadron State College. Prior to joining the agency in 1996, he taught and coached football and wrestling at Sioux County High School in Harrison. Denton and his wife Tonya have two adult children.

He replaces former Troop D Captain Lynn Williams who retired from the agency on September 30, after more than 33 years of service. ###
