Otoe County Special Enforcement Planned

September 13, 2016 (Lincoln, Neb.)  — A special enforcement effort designed to reduce the potential for serious injury and fatality crashes is planned for Otoe county.

Troopers will conduct high visibility patrols and a DUI checkpoint in Otoe County during the evening hours on Saturday, Sept. 17 into the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 18, thanks in part to a $2,100 grant from the Department of Roads Highway Safety Office.

“With fall celebrations and activities in full swing, this is an opportunity to raise awareness of the need for voluntary compliance with all traffic safety laws,” said Captain Lance Rogers, Commander HQ Troop-Lincoln. “We want everyone to get to where they are going safely and encourage citizens to partner with us to help keep our roadways safe.”

Motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limits, always wear their seat belt and never drive impaired or distracted. Impaired or reckless drivers can be reported to the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline by dialing *55 when safe to do so from any cell phone, or 1-800-525-5555 from any landline. Emergencies should be reported to 911. ###
