Lancaster County Rec Area Enforcement Results

September 7, 2016 (Lincoln, Neb.)  —A special enforcement effort designed to prevent serious injury and fatality crashes in and around recreational areas in Lancaster County resulted in the arrest of six impaired drivers.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol Headquarters Troop-Lincoln, in conjunction with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska Game & Parks, participated in the three-month long enforcement. The consisted of high visibility patrols, primarily on weekends.

“Our efforts were well received by citizens enjoying our County recreational areas,” said Captain Lance Rogers, Commander Headquarters Troop. “By providing an increased law enforcement presence during busy times, we were able to help foster a safe environment and in turn gain voluntary compliance with traffic safety laws.”

In addition to the six DWI arrests, troopers issued citations and warnings for speeding (59), open container (13), driving under suspension (2), and no seat belt (6).

The special enforcement which focused Lancaster County recreation areas to include, Branched Oak State Recreational area, Bluestem State Recreational Area, Conestoga Lake, Pawnee Lake, Stagecoach Lake and Wagon Train State Recreational Area, was paid for thanks in part to a $7,700 grant from the Department of Roads Highway Safety Office. ###
