Kearney Cruise Nite Enforcement Numbers Released

(Kearney, Neb.)- Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Troop C Headquarters- Grand Island arrested one motorist for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and issued 47 citations and warnings for speeding during special enforcement efforts over the weekend.

The special enforcement, held in and around Buffalo County, was planned in conjunction with the annual Kearney Cruise Nite celebration, held July 13-17. Special enforcement efforts planned for Friday and Saturday, July 15-16, centered on weekend activities to include a classic car parade in downtown Kearney.

In addition to the one DWI arrest and 47 speeding citations and warnings, troopers issued citations and warnings to include Open Container (2), Minor in Possession of Alcohol (2), Misdemeanor Drug Possession (1), Driving Under Suspension (2), No Seat Belt (23), Child Restraint Violation (5).

“We made contact with a lot of motorists over the weekend,” said Captain Chris Kolb, Commander Troop C- Grand Island. “We want to thank them for their cooperation and extend our appreciation for everyone who did their part to help to make this a fatality free weekend in Buffalo County.”

Special enforcement efforts conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol in conjunction with the Kearney Police Department and the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office were paid for thanks in part to a $9,125 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS). ###
