Capture of Timothy Clausen

On Wednesday, June 15th, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Lincoln Correctional Center Escapee Timothy Clausen, was taken into custody at 3226 North 26th Avenue in Omaha.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Omaha Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force took Clausen into custody without incident.

An anonymous tip to the Omaha Crime Stoppers hotline led law enforcement to Clausen’s location. With the cooperation of multiple agencies, a perimeter was established around the residence and Clausen was ordered to exit the building. Clausen emerged from an upstairs bathroom and was taken into custody without incident. A loaded handgun was located near where Clausen had been sitting.

Clausen, who had changed his appearance by cutting his hair and shaving his beard, was turned over to the Nebraska State Patrol and transported to the Tecumseh State Correctional Institute.

Clausen, 52, and fellow inmate Armon Dixon, 37, escaped from the Lincoln Correctional Center on Friday, June 10th, 2016. Dixon had previously been apprehended by authorities in Lincoln.

This arrest was a direct result of an anonymous tip to the Omaha Crime Stoppers hotline. $5,000 of the reward in this case is being contributed by the United States Marshals Service as well as $2,500 contributed by the Omaha Crime Stoppers program. The total reward for this arrest will be $7,500 to the anonymous tipster who assisted in the arrest of this dangerous fugitive.

The Omaha Police Department, on behalf of the entire Nebraska Law Enforcement community would like to thank the diligent citizens of the metro area as well as all of our community partners who assisted in the capture of this dangerous fugitive. The hundreds of tips received in this case directly contributed to the continued safety of our community and law enforcement officers.
