Suspect Crashes After Fleeing Traffic Stop

April 21, 2022
Omaha, NEB.

One person was injured, and another arrested, after a suspect fled a traffic stop and crashed this morning on Interstate 80 in Omaha.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. a trooper observed a Toyota Sienna traveling southbound at an estimated 90 miles per hour on Interstate 680. As the vehicle merged onto eastbound I-80, the trooper attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle accelerated and fled. After approximately 30 seconds, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the jersey barrier that separates eastbound and westbound lanes. The Toyota then struck another vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, causing minor damage.

The driver of the Toyota, Nicholas Brady, 32, of Omaha, was extricated from the vehicle by Omaha Fire and Rescue and was then transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Impala, Tylon Holmes, 27, of Omaha, was not injured. Holmes had an active warrant. He was arrested and lodged in Douglas County Jail.

Charges are pending for Brady. The Omaha Police Department is investigating the crash.
