Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) have completed a special enforcement operation focused on excessive speeding in the Omaha metro area.

Troopers, working with officers from the Omaha Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, and the NSP Aviation Support Division, conducted several enforcement efforts in the weekend and evening hours from May 3 through August 31.

“Excessive speed is dangerous for everyone on the road,” said Captain Jason Scott, Commander – Troop A. “This team effort was a success in both enforcement and raising awareness about the issue. Our troopers will remain vigilant and continue to watch for speeding violations.”

During the effort, troopers made four arrests for reckless driving, two arrests for drug possession, apprehended two fugitives, and recovered one stolen vehicle.

Citations were also issued for speeding (24), no motorcycle endorsement (20), driving under suspension (6), no proof of insurance (6), minor in possession of alcohol (1), and no seat belt (1). Additionally, 16 motorcycles were impounded during this operation.

The enforcement effort was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $17,900 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
