The training will also address the nuances of applying the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to Nebraska Protection Orders and how to identify if a restricted party is prohibited from purchasing/possessing a firearm under federal law.

These sections will be followed by specific, hands-on instruction intended for law enforcement staff who will be using the Portal for entry and maintenance. • Certified NCIC users responsible for submitting and maintaining entries to the NCIC Protective Order File and/or submitting Return of Service (RoS) via the Portal for their respective jurisdiction.
  • Non-NCIC users who will be submitting Return of Service (RoS) via the Portal for their respective jurisdiction.
  • Clerks of the District Court and/or their staff who want to gain an understanding of law enforcement’s role upon issuance or modification of a protection order.
