Professional Standards

The Professional Standards Division is commanded by a Staff Captain and is under the direct supervision of the Superintendent's Office. The Division has five components: Policy/Accreditation, Internal Affairs, Legal, Legislative Liaison, and Information Governance.

The Professional Standards Division is tasked with ensuring that the administrative infrastructure of the agency is such that the agency and its employees can perform with a high level of professionalism, thereby providing a high level of public service. The goal of the Division is to ensure uniformity of professional conduct within the agency through the development and deployment of agency policy, the proper application of those policies, an internal inspections process, an administrative investigation process when alleged misconduct occurs, and the proper managing of all Nebraska State Patrol records.

The Division of Professional Standards is under the Command of Captain Mike Jahnke. Captain Jahnke also serves as the agency's Legislative Liaison and is responsible for, and oversees, the Divisions of Policy/Accreditation, Internal Affairs, Legal, and Information Governance.
