Alcohol Inspections Conducted in Saunders, Otoe Counties

November 22, 2017 (lincoln, Neb.)  — Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol
conducted alcohol inspections in Saunders and Otoe Counties on Saturday, November 18. A total of
56 businesses were inspected as part of the effort.

In Saunders County, 26 businesses were checked with two selling alcohol to a minor for a non-
compliance rate of 7%. Neither business asked for the minor’s ID. In Otoe County, 30 businesses were
checked with five selling alcohol to a minor for a non-compliance rate of 16%. Four of those
businesses failed to check the minor’s ID.

The businesses which failed the inspections were:

Wild Ride – Prague

Midtown Amoco – Wahoo

B&J’s Family Restaurants and Lounge – Syracuse

Bing’s Sports Bar – Nebraska City

Pizza Hut – Nebraska City

WalMart Store #4209 – Nebraska City

VFW #5547 – Syracuse

Businesses that fail an inspection are reported to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission and any
clerk who sells alcohol to a minor is cited for Procuring Alcohol for a Minor. The businesses checked
included restaurants, bars, convenience stores, grocery stores, and liquor stores.

Law enforcement performs alcohol inspections to ensure businesses are complying with the state’s
alcohol laws and to decrease youth access to alcohol. The compliance checks were conducted thanks in
part to grant #1671 from Region V Prevention Coalition.
