Nebraska State Patrol Issues 486 Citations during
NHTSA Regional Speed Enforcement

September 26, 2016 (Lincoln, Neb.)  — From September 23-25, troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol issued 486 speed citations during participation in the area’s first Regional Speed Enforcement Campaign, spearheaded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the State Highway Safety Offices.

Law enforcement officers from Nebraska joined their counterparts in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas and Oklahoma to conduct a high visibility enforcement cracking down on motorists who were driving too fast for conditions or exceeding the speed limit.

“Working together with our fellow officers across the region provided us an opportunity to have a positive impact on reducing speed and encouraging safe driving,” said Colonel Brad Rice, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol.

In addition to the 486 speed citations, troopers issued 50 citations and warnings for No Seat Belt and made 18 Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrests.

Col. Rice said, “We all win when motorists voluntarily comply with all traffic safety laws.” ###
