Troop E Summer Celebration Enforcement Results

(Scottsbluff, Neb.)- The Nebraska State Patrol made no Driving Under the Influence (DUI) arrests during a special enforcement effort in Scotts Bluff County, July 8 & 9.

“For the past five years, we’ve held a special enforcement effort in conjunction with summer celebrations and each year we’ve seen the number of DUI arrests decrease,” said Captain Jamey Balthazor, Commander Troop E- Scottsbluff. “We want to thank the citizens for recognizing they make a difference in keeping our roadways safe. Through voluntary compliance and utilization of community safe ride programs we can all work together to reduce serious injury and fatality crashes.”

As a part of the special enforcement, which included high visibility patrols and DUI checkpoints, citations and warnings were issued for misdemeanor drug possession (13), open container (3), minor in possession of alcohol (3), no seat belt (5), child restraint violation (5), speeding (1).

The special enforcement effort was paid for thanks in part to a $3,400 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS). ###
