Awareness Set Tone for Special Enforcement

(Grand Island, Neb.)-  The Nebraska State Patrol Troop C- Grand Island did not work any serious injury crashes or arrest any drivers for DWI during a special enforcement in Hall County.

The special enforcement, which included a DUI checkpoint and high visibility patrols in and around Hall County, was supported thanks in part to a $1,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.

“The fact that we did not make any DWI arrests speaks to the importance of raising awareness of the dangers of impaired driving,” said Captain Chris Kolb, Commander Troop C-Grand Island. “Through voluntary compliance we can work together to keep our roads safe for all motorists.”

Troopers issued citations and warnings for speeding (7), no seat belt (2), and child restraint violation (1).  In addition 62 vehicles were checked as a part of a vehicle check held at 4th and St. Paul St. in Grand Island.  ###
