90 Day DUI Enforcement planned for
Scotts Bluff County

(Scottsbluff, Neb.)- In an effort to continue to draw attention to the danger of impaired driving Troop E- Scottsbluff will once again conduct a series of special enforcement efforts designed to reduce the potential for serious injury and fatality crashes.

Beginning in April and continuing through June, troopers in conjunction with the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office will conduct weekend nighttime vehicle checks and high visibility patrols in and around Scotts Bluff County.

“We’ve conducted this type of enforcement for the past three years,” said Captain Jamey Balthazor, Commander Troop E- Scottsbluff. “Over that time period, we’ve seen alcohol related fatalities in Scott Bluff County fall from five in 2013, to one in 2015.”

A nearly $14,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will help pay for overtime hours during the special enforcement.

Captain Balthazor said, “By combining education, awareness and engaging the public, we hope to continue to reduce impaired driving and save lives in the process.” ###
